Building Update
Progress on the upgrade to St Francis Hall and the Middle Years Building are making solid progress. The first fix is nearly completed and landscaping and paving is underway. Over the next two weekends (so as not to disrupt our learning programs), SA Power Networks will be adding a new transformer along Railway Tce, this is to future proof the school site so there will be sufficient power for future building projects. As Mr Merrett moves the PE equipment into the new Sports Shed, the majority of the containers will be moved off site next Friday.
The anticipated finish date is late September, which will allow the Year 2 & 3 classes to move in over the holidays and begin in the new areas in Term 4.
BOOK WEEK - Parade next Friday 23 August
To celebrate Book Week, our school will be hosting an exciting dress-up parade with the enchanting theme “Reading is Magic”. Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing the magic of their beloved stories to life. Whether it’s wizards, mythical creatures, or heroes from their favourite tales, this parade will be a vibrant celebration of the imagination and wonder that reading brings. This event will highlight how books can transport us to magical worlds, inspire creativity, and ignite a lifelong love for reading. Parents, Grandparents, friends are welcome to join us at 9.15am on the courts (weather permitting) for a morning filled with fun, creativity, and a little bit of literacy magic!
Reading to and with your child is one of the easiest and best things you can do for your child and their education. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. Even after children learn to read by themselves, it is still important for you to read aloud together and enjoy books.
The Book Fair is set to take place next week in the school library, offering a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to explore a wide range of books. The fair will be open on Monday and Tuesday from 8.00am to 9.00am and again from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, allowing families to visit before or after school hours. On Wednesday the fair will also be open in the morning from 8.00am to 9.00am and in the afternoon from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This event is a great chance to discover new reads and support the school’s library, so make sure to stop by!
Student Learning Review Meetings
The majority of Student Learning Review meetings have now been completed and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the time to come along over the last two weeks. It was great to see so many students confidently leading the learning review, talking about their strengths, and working together with parents and teachers to set goals for future learning. We value this important opportunity to meet together and hope that you will continue to support us in developing your child’s potential.
School Photos
This year our School Photo day is on Tuesday 15th October (Week 1 of Term 4). All students will need to be wearing their correct winter uniform. More information will be sent home later this term.
Dearest All,
Saints are our heroes. We, where possible, try and emulate their life, revealing their morals, values, and teachings, within our daily interactions with others.
This Term, we have had the wonderful opportunity to study particular saints due to their feast day – St. Dominic, St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Mary, the mother of Jesus. Each of these saints are real role models for us all: St. Dominic’s mission was to spread the fire and warmth of God’s love and enlighten the minds and heart of people with the message of truth, justice, and peace. St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop’s life was dedicated to caring for others. She demonstrated great determination into making a difference in the world. Mary, the mother of Jesus, exhibits deep courage and optimism from trusting God when becoming the mother of Jesus to unwavering confidence knowing that the cross was not the end for her Son. St. Dominic, St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Mary all displayed, lived and believed in HOPE.
As we go about our daily lives, with its ups and downs, joys and sorrows, happiness and unhappiness, life can quickly lose its meaning without hope. Think about when sitting a test, or running a race, playing a soccer or netball match, or applying for a job, there’s a great sense of hope that you could do well in the test, win the race or the game or score the job, and with that hope comes an inner courage and belief that you can and will succeed by placing trust in your ability, placing trust in your God given talents.
These saints want us to trust in God, even when all else in our lives is going wrong or appears hopeless. St. Dominic, St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Mary clearly never regretted placing their hope and trust in God and neither should we!
God of Hope, I come before You today, seeking hope in the midst of my circumstances. Your Word assures me that You are the source of all hope, and I place my trust in You. Help me to lean not on my own understanding but to trust in Your wisdom and guidance. AMEN.
Enjoy the weekend.

Last Friday, our EnviroClub had a fantastic time getting their hands dirty and planting new herbs and vegetables for the upcoming spring season!
With the sun shining and enthusiasm high, students planted a variety of seeds, including carrots, lettuce, spinach, herbs and much more. The EnviroClub members learned about how these vegetables grow and the importance of taking care of our environment. By working together in our school garden, they are not only helping our green space thrive but also gaining valuable knowledge about sustainable practices. We can't wait to see their hard work blossom into a bountiful garden full of fresh produce!
Ps. There is plenty of parsley ready to be picked for anyone who would like to take some home. Please pull gently and only take what you need. You will find it in a raised garden bed, between the preschool and the new building construction.
